    Term: 12 months

     

    The International Marketing and Partnerships Officer supports the development of strategic relationships with international partners, both government and non-government, for priority markets, as determined by institutional strategic priorities. The Officer creates tactics to support international student enrolment goals through focused research, marketing and communication processes. The Officer is responsible for providing mature, confident, and credible external representation of the university in international markets that support the institution’s strategic goal of global prominence.


    The Officer will be the primary point of contact for international agreements and partnerships as they relate to graduate students and graduate studies at the University of Waterloo. The Officer is responsible for the review of international agreements and the dissemination of process and policy information to university campus stakeholders. The International Marketing and Partnerships Officer reports to the Manager, Graduate Marketing and Recruitment. The Officer has a close working relationship with team members within Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA), Waterloo International, Marketing and Undergraduate Recruitment, Faculty recruitment specialists, Associate Deans, Graduate Studies.

    Responsibilities

    Manages international graduate partnerships and agreements

    • Manages review process of international agreements
    • Conducts research and consultation with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. Faculties, Secretariat, Waterloo International, Office of Research, recruitment consortia and agents) and makes
      recommendations for graduate studies specific compliance
    • Creates standardized templates and processes to facilitate unique partnership opportunities

    Relationship Management

    • Represents graduate studies on university-wide committees that support internalization goals of the institution
    • Manages positive and effective relationships to facilitate ongoing dialogue with institutional partners
    • Ensures timely, accurate, consistent and ongoing follow-up with internal and external stakeholders
    • Provides international recruitment leadership and expertise, including training of university delegates traveling to strategic key markets
    • Represents the University of Waterloo at key international market events/recruitment opportunities (as needed)
    • Acts as the back up to the Manager, Graduate Marketing and Recruitment on international matters

    Marketing and communications

    • Coordinates the development of content, visual presentations and display materials intended for key international audiences/markets; ensures that internationally focused print/digital initiatives align with other marketing and promotional content
    • Advises on marketing campaigns to facilitate international marketing efforts
    • Explores marketing opportunities for further development/growth in key international markets
    • Liaises with internal and external partners to leverage international marketing opportunities (e.g. webinars about Waterloo), while ensuring compliance with the University brand guidelines

    Research

    • Understands and applies relevant marketing research and institutional knowledge pertaining to international strategic priorities
    • Provides data related to international graduate enrolment management
    • Analyzes, understands and applies current and historical data to determine trends, forecast future opportunities and inform strategy development
    • Analyzes data to make recommendations for further international exploration and expansion
    • Supports ongoing evaluation of international marketing and recruitment efforts

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience
    • Experience with international partnership guidelines/policies; familiarity with processes as they relate to graduate studies
    • Experience and/or understanding of marketing and/or graduate enrolment management principles
    • Experience presenting to varied audiences
    • Experience managing multiple priorities
    • Experience in relationships management, specifically with government/senior administrators
    • Project management – ability to manage competing priorities
    • Knowledge and understanding of international education systems, credentials and international partnerships
    • Knowledge of University’s Quest/OnBase and data extract systems and asset.
    • Demonstrated ability to learn Waterloo Content Management System (WCMS) guidelines; ability to follow WCMS guidelines in the maintenance of websites
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment
    • Demonstrated ability to meet multiple and concurrent deadlines
    • Excellent communication (both written and oral) and attention to detail skills
    • Demonstrated skill of PowerPoint or similar presentation software, Word, Excel
    • Intermittent work outside the normal operating hours of the institution and occasional travel
