    Term: 9 Months  


    The Workday Functional Analyst leads the conversion, testing, and configuration of assigned functional HCM modules (Core HCM, Payroll, Compensation, Benefits etc), within the Workday implementation project. Reporting to the Functional Architect, the Workday Functional Analyst will be the primary point of contact for the assigned HCM module(s), to ensure that the future state of the Workday system meets and exceeds project and stakeholder expectations. In collaboration with the consulting implementation partner, this role is accountable for the optimal configurations and setup of the assigned Human Resources functions within the Workday application.



    Functional conversion lead for assigned module(s)

    • Reviews and signs off on all field level data mapping for the assigned module(s) from PeopleSoft HCM to Workday
    • Collaborates with the HR Reporting and Analytics team on development of transformation logic requirements
    • Participates in functional conversion testing and validations 
    • Provides input into data integrity prioritization to support the conversion work stream 

    Leads the completion of design workbooks and business requirements for the assigned module(s)

    • In collaboration with the consulting implementation partner, the Workday Functional Analyst is accountable for the completion of the design workbooks through facilitation of business requirements
    • Responsible for strategy and approach to ensure completion of design workbooks in order to document all business and technical requirements of the assigned module(s) 
    • Identifies gaps and points of escalations in the design workbooks
    • Responsible for capturing business requirements as shared by subject matter experts, and the HR Process team within the design workbooks
    • Manages detailed task list for completion of design workbooks and reports progress and risks to the Project Manager and Functional Architect
    • Identifies gaps in business logic and complex requirements to the Functional Architect for consultation and remediation
    • Conducts analysis within the PeopleSoft HRMS application and recommends design options to support future state configurations in Workday

    Leads Workday configurations for the assigned functional module(s)

    • In collaboration with the consulting implementation partner, the Workday Functional Analyst develops a thorough understanding of the required technical configurations and system setup
    • Leads all functional configurations of the assigned module(s), and business processes to support multiple prototype builds, including the final production tenant
    • Develops and maintains configuration documentation to support multiple prototype builds, including the final production tenant
    • Identifies configuration inefficiencies, causes, and recommends solutions to the Functional Architect
    • Participates in Workday release impact assessments and recommendations of new features and capabilities to support the implementation
    • Responsible for identification of technical transition and cutover requirements of the assigned functional module(s)

    Lead functional testing processes to ensure that Workday design and configurations meet the needs of the Human Resources function

    • Identify test scenarios, develop test scripts, and execute testing in support of the assigned Workday module(s)
    • Creates strategy and test plan to support payroll parallel testing  
    • Oversee user acceptance testing to ensure that all functional subject matter experts have the necessary information to test and execute any changes to their business processes
    • Reviews testing results, maintains issues logs, and recommends resolution options to the Functional Architect
    • Collaborate with the Documentation and Training Specialist to identify areas of complexity and system requirements to support the training and documentation stream of the project
    • Conduct technical training to operational support teams and contribute to service management plans as required
    • Participates in immediate post go live support and operationalizing of the Workday application


    • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience required (CBAP certification is preferred)
    • Knowledge of PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge) principles and the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) are required
    • 5-7 years of progressive business/systems analysis and administration experience including hands on technical configurations with HR enterprise applications, and technology projects
    • 3-5 years HR systems experience including supporting implementation of modules or module re-implementations; Workday configuration experience is highly desired
    • Proficient level knowledge of the software development life cycle, encompassing systems analysis and design concepts is required
    • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills are essential
    • Proven ability to understand complex situations, tasks or problems, analyze them using a systematic approach and identify patterns and connections between situations that are not inherently obvious
    • Proven ability to adapt and work effectively within a variety of situations including changes in job demands; changing priorities or competing priorities
    • Proficient level knowledge of project management skills, methodologies, and implementation frameworks is required
    • Ability to engage and influence stakeholders ensuring stakeholder adoption
    • Significant experience in requirements elicitation, fit/gap analysis and preparation of functional design and configuration documents
    • Proven ability to identify opportunities for process and system improvements either in existing designs or by adopting new functionalities in the software
    • Ability to work well with diverse groups of people with a clear vision of business needs
    • A continuous improvement mindset and an exceptional customer service focus are critical for success along with exceptionally strong detail and problem solving skills
    • MS Word - Proficient (track changes, compare and merge files, table management, footnotes, technical documentation)
    • Excel - Advanced (macros, pivot tables, v/h look-ups, scenarios, if and sum if statements)
    • PowerPoint - Proficient (creation of multi-level lists, charts, images, creation of master slides and dynamic presentations)
    • Other - Workday, PeopleSoft or other HR enterprise systems, Reporting Tools, MS Project, Visio
