  • Overview

    Term: 23 months (approximately)

     

    This position is responsible for the planning and implementation of a variety of internal and external initiatives related to the School.  A range of general administrative tasks associated with SAF’s unique credit-based experiential learning initiatives specific to the Student Investment Fund and the Student Venture Fund. This role may offer faculty support for pilot projects related to problem-based learning. This role assumes responsibility for assistance with the planning and execution of internal co/extra-curricular learning experiences for students (such as internal case competitions), and coordinates student participation in external experiences (such as external competitions and conferences). Additionally this role coordinates the CPA Ontario CPMRE under the direction of the Centre Director. 

     

    This role is contingent on funding.

    Responsibilities

    Organize internal and external student initiatives (competitions, conferences, study trips, scholarship awards, etc) including, but not limited to the following activities:

    • Coordinate event details such as time, location, refreshments and managing attendee details/requirements, registrations, travel, reimbursements and maintaining extensive program documentation

    • Communicate the collection of information with faculty, students and staff to ensure ongoing participation and engagement

    • Provide guidance and feedback to faculty coordinator regarding feedback, attendance, and making recommendations for future program adjustments and considerations

    • Monitor and evaluate program delivery through feedback forms and surveys

    • Administer the application process for the CFA Institute Awareness Scholarships 

    • Monitors and ensures the website and Learn site are updated

    Coordinate the Student Investment Fund including, but not limited to the following activities:

    • Manage the administrative aspects of the Student Investment Fund, including tracking key program metrics, communicating with students, faculty and staff to ensure services are managed effectively

    • Determine schedule of events in coordination with faculty coordinators and student academic schedules

    • Facilitate recruiting process and provide appropriate documentation for course enrollment

    • Arrange meetings and events throughout the term, booking resources both on and off-campus

    • Monitors and ensures the website is updated

    Coordinate the Student Venture Fund including, but not limited to the following activities:

    • Manage the administrative aspects of the Student Venture Fund, including tracking key program metrics, communicating with students, faculty and staff to ensure services are managed effectively
    • Determine schedule of events in coordination with faculty coordinators and student academic schedules
    • Facilitate recruiting process and provide appropriate documentation for course enrollment
    • Arrange meetings and events throughout the term, booking resources both on and off-campus
    • Monitors and ensures the website is updated

    Coordinate the CPA Ontario Centre for Performance Management Research and Education

    • Create and maintain Centre documentation supporting goals, outcomes and progress

    • Provide a wide range of administrative support to Centre Director to ensure the program administrative needs are being met including event planning, communications to internal and external stakeholders, and coordination of research and travel grant activities

    • Participate in regular team strategy meetings

    • Maintain budget and financial information appropriate to the Centre activities.  Assist with budget preparation and prepare monthly consolidations

    • Advance and leverage positive professional relationships with all on and off campus stakeholders

    • Develop and maintain a procedural manual outlining the key aspects of the position

    Qualifications

    • Undergraduate degree in Arts, Business or Education preferred or equivalent education and/or experience
    • 2-5 years of progressive experience in business or education with a proven track record of achievement and success with event planning or class coordination

    • Event Management training would be an asset but not required

    • An aptitude for learning new applications however, intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook including features such as mail merge, group mail and vlookup functions are essential.  Previous knowledge of Quest, Sharepoint and Concur are an asset

    • A high degree of interpersonal acumen and problem solving ability is required to provide oversight in balancing multiple priorities and deadlines

    • Must be a strong communicator (experience with oral presentations and effective writing skills) with the ability to build strong relationships

    • Possess strong planning and organization skills with exceptional attention to detail and administrative tasks

    • Must be a problem solver with a friendly, professional, customer service oriented personality

    • The ability to interact with a wide variety of people in many different contexts with demonstrated experience working in a student setting preferred

    • Ability to conduct themselves with a high degree of diplomacy and tact

    • Project management experience is an asset

    • Occasionally required to go off campus to organize details for events
    • Regular working hours, some evening/weekend work required
