  • Overview

    The Computing Consultant, Client Services (Portal, Web Development), reporting to the Manager, Web Development and working alongside the Portal development team, is responsible for the development, maintenance, and ongoing support of the Portal web and mobile applications. As such, this role encompasses every aspect of the software development lifecycle, including meeting with clients to gather requirements, prototyping new functionality, testing new and existing components, driving and supporting the development of new systems, maintaining current functionality, and supporting the existing userbase.


    As a part of the Portal Development team:

    • Works collaboratively with the team to come up with creative solutions to difficult problems
    • Uses best judgement and best practices in solving problems
    • Always interacts with the team in a positive and constructive manner
    • Participates in discussions and planning sessions to help steer the Portal project
    • Strives to improve the platform on a day to day basis
    • Attempts to improve oneself, and the team by staying current in the latest technology trends and providing feedback

    • Communicates with partners and clients in a manner which denotes exceptional service
    • Welcomes feedback for the team and the department so as to improve the product and service
    • Values the importance of relationship building with team members and campus partners


    • Post-secondary education in a related field or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, and work experience in a similar technical service-oriented environment
    • Must have a good of understanding of software development best practices and employ them in every-day tasks
    • Thorough understanding of the Agile software development principles
    • Ensure the technical feasibility of front-end UX, UI design particularly in mobile app development (please include your portfolio as a part of your application)
    • Expert with entire front-end development stack, including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
    • Experience creating UI/UX deliverables using design tools such as Adobe XD, Sketch, Invision
    • Experience with and understanding of responsive design frameworks and patterns
    • Proven ability to code complex web applications in the .NET environment
    • Expert with relational database design and usage through MS SQL, T-SQL, and Entity Framework
    • Extensive knowledge of the MVC web development framework
    • Thorough understanding of building and using APIs
    • Thorough understanding of the Ionic/Cordova platforms to build iOS and Android applications
    • Experience with NoSQL databases such as CouchDB
    • Experience building Angular JS applications
    • Experience with the SASS stylesheet language
    • Experience with Team Foundation Server source control
    • Driven with a thirst for knowledge
    • Excellent ability to work on a team
