Overview

Term: 9 months

 

This position runs the SLC media doc, is responsible for excellent customer service and ensuring customer print orders are completed accurately to meet expected timelines. The incumbent is also responsible for overseeing and assigning tasks for general merchandise floor staff. This position provides support to the operation, providing frontline customer service. The incumbent is expected to contribute to a positive working environment with co-workers and supervisors in P+RS and to support team goals.

Responsibilities

Effective Retail Operations

  • Runs the media doc outlet at this location
  • Supports Print + Retail Solutions operations as needed
  • Provides training, direction & oversight to part-time staff scheduled at this location

 

Effective Communication & Client Service

  • At all times, acts as a brand ambassador for Print + Retail Solutions and the University of Waterloo
  • Provides POS sales transaction service
  • Maintains excellent customer relations
  • Adheres to Print + Retail Solutions standards of excellent customer service
  • Ensures customer print orders are completed accurately and meet expected timelines

 

Technical Skill

  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office
  • Demonstrated ability to use and learn new database and scheduling software (e.g., Visual Ratex, Point of Sale)

 

General Merchandise Support

  • Provides product feedback to the general merchandise manager
  • Provides merchandising and product recommendations to the general merchandise manager
  • Ensures P+RS merchandising standards are upheld
  • Assigns merchandising and stock duties to part-time staff scheduled at this location
  • Provides back up support for pop up shops

 

Equipment Operation

  • Operates print copiers, passport & wide format equipment as directed
  • Ensures customer print orders are completed accurately and meets timelines
  • Responsible for efficient, timely customer printing and assisting with related duties
  • Accountable for the secure printing and finishing of confidential materials

 

Qualifications

  • Completion of a High School diploma required, college diploma preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered
  • Courses in customer service and merchandising are considered assets
  • Valid G driver’s license required
  • Minimum three years of progressive experience working in a retail setting required
  • Work experience in a post-secondary setting is considered an asset
  • Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to work independently without supervision on a regular basis
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy required
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills. Proven abilities to multi-task and prioritize are essential
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Must be able to handle high-pressure situations, while remaining calm and courteous
  • There may be unusual hours or schedules, extended weekend hours, or weekday extended hours with varying volumes of work at different time of the year
