Overview

Term: 1 Year

 

The Velocity Programs Coordinator is accountable to the Manager, Programs and will assist in the coordination and execution of Velocity programs that encourage, develop, and promote the entrepreneurial and innovative talents
and ambitions of students and alumni at UWaterloo. In addition, the Velocity Programs Coordinator will support all Velocity events and assist with a variety of administrative and facility-related duties associated with on-campus
programs.

Responsibilities

Programming/Event Planning

  • Attend and/or host Velocity events including, but not limited to, Residence dinners, bootcamp and events, Velocity Start workshops and chats, Velocity Garage events and Velocity Fund events
  • Assist with the coordination, execution, and evaluation of Velocity programs including, but not limited to event logistics planning event registration and feedback, maintaining event statistics and records, and other
  • administrative duties

 

Administrative

  • Assist with facility-related tasks associated with the Velocity Start, Velocity Science, and Velocity Residence facilities
  • Assist with operational processes within the department including, but not limited to, handling Velocity Start space bookings and Workspace access requests, and other administrative duties
  • Provide administrative support for the Velocity team as needed

 

Qualifications

  • University degree or or equivalent education and/or experience
  • Experience coordinating, planning, and hosting student-centered and public events
  • Passionate about student entrepreneurship, innovation and technology
  • Experience coordinating, planning, and hosting student-centred and public events
  • Self-motivated and resourceful, comfortable working autonomously
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks and deadlines and able to easily shift priorities when needed
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • A positive attitude with a desire to succeed
  • Experience with Eventbrite, Asana, and Salesforce is an asset
  • Access to a vehicle is an asset
  • Skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience with Mac Operating Systems
  • Regular evening and occasional weekend work is required
