Overview

Reporting to a Section Supervisor, the Building Operator is assigned to the preventative, demand and corrective maintenance of mechanical operating equipment, all building systems, building envelope and grounds of the University buildings.

Responsibilities

The Building Operator II may make decisions concerning the preventive maintenance required and the replacement of parts or materials as necessary to maintain buildings, equipment and furnishing in a good state of repair. The Building Operator II communicates, reports, advises and receives instruction from supervisory staff concerning costs, manpower requirements and priority of work and breakdown maintenance. Coordinates the work of contractors and service personnel as well as employees assigned to assist in tasks.

Qualifications

  • The Building Operator II must have a Community College Certificate as a Class II Building Environmental Systems Operator or equivalent, plus three (3) years continuous experience in the operation and maintenance of building systems.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings, perform facility condition assessments, and the ability to write summary reports when necessary. 
  • Performs the work of other trades as required to the limit of their skill, training and code requirements.
